Pajonales Project

Pajonales Project is a series of mining concessions centered at 25° 15’ S and 68° 52’ W, with an average altitude of 3.600 m a.s.l. The properties are located approximately 165 km east of Taltal in the south-western margin of the Salar de Pajonales, in the Antofagasta Municipality, Antofagasta Province, Antofagasta Region, Chile.

6Anka Mining Chile SpA has obtained authorization and notification from SERNAGEOMIN (March 26, 2025) to drill three wells up to 600 meters each. These will be located in the areas recommended by our team of geologists.

The authorization is valid from May 2026 to October 2026.

The planned drilling will be carried out using the Diamond Drillhole (DDH) system with an HQ3 diameter (3.77 inches in diameter). Subsequently, the well will be equipped with a 2-inch PVC casing along with a silica gravel filter. This approach ensures that representative core samples are obtained, facilitating the study of the geological and permeability characteristics of the underlying volcanic deposits and allowing the recovery of representative water/brine samples using packing tools and, from the PVC completion, the analysis of the ionic content of the water and the evaluation of the geochemical stratigraphy of the groundwater.

 

The presence of moderate geochemical lithium anomalies within the Rio Frio ignimbrite suggests the existence of a significant lithium source, indicating the potential for leaching and concentration as brines in the underlying deposits.

The occurrence of anomalous samples within saline deposits, notably the two instances with values of 432 ppm Li and 1,760 ppm Li, strongly suggests the potential existence of lithium-enriched brines within the underlying deposits.

The analysis of geophysical Transient Electromagnetic Survey (TEM) data, coupled with geological information, indicates the potential presence of underground brine saturating volcanic deposits with variable permeability levels along the margins of the Pajonales salt flat. The geophysical profiles reveal fluctuations, ranging from surface proximity in the eastern margin to a depth of 300 meters in the western and southern boundaries of the salar.

The total exploration potential volume determined from the geophysical TEM data reaches 18.560 million cubic meters (*) across the mining concessions.
