General Objectives:

To identify and quantify, in the locality, the problems that affect the best use of natural resources for different purposes while considering the economic and social factors related to those problems.
To point out the most convenient measures to solve the identified problems, calculating the implied impact on investments.
To propose a preliminary plan of development based on the identified solutions and to establish priorities for determining the actions and investments in line with the greatest possibilities for increasing the production of its activities.

Community Relations Plan:

The social aspects potentially relevant for implementation of a community relations strategy are:

Inventory, assessment and rationed use of natural resources.
Elaboration of the basic aspect of the research on social environment with the information obtained in the field and the contribution of other disciplines.
Realization of multidisciplinary studies at hydro graphical valley level.
Information analysis and its correlation with the existing studies and projects will make possible the proposal of a general policy for the development, orienting the actions and investments towards a sustainable social development.
This general objective will be achieved by coordination with the involved actors, that is to say, regional and local authorities and representative institutions.

Anka is a mining project whose aim is to conciliate and harmonize the economic growth strategy through the sustainable use of non-renewable natural resources, with due protection of the environment and a continuous social accountability commitment. This will be fulfilled through compliance with regulations, application of international norms and our commitment to Sustainable Development in the projects, processes and investments that Ankaholds in Chile & Peru.
To achieve harmonized coexistence of the sustainable use of non-renewable resources with the economic development, the incorporation of the environmental and social aspect is included in the assessment of projects and activities to be carried out.

Since its inception, Anka has committed itself to Sustainable Development. For this reason, we have a Corporative Environmental Policy that defines and establishes our commitment in everything that is done in the productive processes.

The activities of these mining processes inherently result in alterations to the environment, which means that our company has a direct responsibility towards environmental conservation and the minimization of impacts on the environment. This is why the Anka Environmental Policy is applied on the basis of an Environmental Management System (one of the main components of Sustainable Development). This serves in the same way as support for the implementation of actions focused on a Cleaner Production concept.

The aforementioned allows for the definition of Anka relevant environmental aspects and development of operations through concrete objectives and goals that are capable of continuous planning, controlling and improvement. The final objective is to have a product that guarantees a high degree of quality and security, and which is compatible with the needs of the ecosystem.

To fulfill the objectives, we will need to:

Comply with requirements of all the Chilean & Peruvian laws, decrees and/or rules on environment and the continuous commitment to international norms and treats.
To prevent or minimize to the greatest extent possible the environmental impact of our processes of extraction, separation, processing, disposition, transportation and use through to the target destiny.
To assess continuously the environmental performance of our programs and technologies as well as to monitor constantly the advances in the achievement of our objectives.
To have available operational policies, programs, risks conditions and resources in order to carry out our Environmental Policy.
To strengthen communication so that all Anka personnel can fulfill their commitment to understand and be responsible for their activities.
To rehabilitate landscape at mine closure.

Sustainable Development
Sustainable Development is the process of sustainable and equitable improvement of the life quality of people based on appropriate measurements of conservation and protection of the environment so that expectations of future generations are not affected.

Eco efficiency
Eco efficiency is a mechanism that relates to enterprise competitiveness and its contribution to Sustainable Development. Eco efficiency is achieved by producing goods and services at competitive prices that meet human needs, improve life quality, and also could progressively reduce environmental impacts. It is also the principle by which enterprises should learn to integrate the benefits of their productivity with the minimization of waste and the prevention of contamination.

Environmental Policy
Environmental policy is the motor for the implementation and improvement of the Environmental System Management of the organization so that it may maintain and improve its environmental performance. Therefore, the policy should reflect the engagement of the Executive Board with compliance of the pertinent law and with continuous improvement. The policy is the basis upon which the organization establishes its objectives and goals. It should be clear enough to be understood by the interested parties, both internal and external, and should be examined and reviewed periodically to show changes in the conditions and in information. Its application area should be clearly identifiable.
The Executive Board of the organization should define and document its environmental policy within the context of the environmental policy of any corporation or group in which it is a member and have the approval of that corporation or group, if it exists.

Cleaner Production
It is the continuous application of a preventive integrated environmental strategy for the processes, products and services with the objective of increasing efficiency and reducing the risks on people and environment. It also implies improvement to the productive processes through application of best practices (as good local maintenance, better process control, and efficient use of resources), change of raw materials and processes, product reuse, product or equipment modification and technological changes according with the reality and needs of the company, with the objective of generating savings for the company and reducing environmental impact.

This is the part of the company’s business strategy that includes organizational structure, planning activities, assignment of responsibilities, implementation of practices and processes and the allocation of resources for development, review and maintenance of the environmental policy of the company.
